I cannot shutdown or reboot unless I push power switch. It does not work for KDE or CLI. If I type reboot, I see an error that says WARNING: could not determine runlevel - doing soft reboot, but it never reboots at all. Shutdown-h now just freezes the OS. I can type but can't log in until I force a shutdown. See no output in that case. Given I need to remotely admin, this could be a dealbreaker. Anyone know what's wrong? |

Since part of this started on an update with an overlay, I followed a hunch and did chmod +x /sbin/init and that made the error disappear. Still did not solve the problem though, which was unrelated it turns out. On another hunch, I added ACPI to my kernel boot parameters and now it shuts down and reboots perfectly. I solved it on my own, but not before I panicked, hence my original post. |
