Hi guys,i'm new to Gentoo linux so be patient.I followed the handbook instructions until che grub installation.I emerged GRUB but when was about to modify grub.conf i noticed that the GRUB directory does noto exist in /booot and i don't know to solve this.Can you help me guys?
Info: pc -> Aspire E1-522,i'm using a minimal installation livecd and the stage3 amd64 latest archive. |

Code: | mkdir -p /boot/grub | (or whatever.) |

Shouldn't grub directory be created automatically? And now can i go on creating the conf file? |

a) yes afaik, though it's several years since I did an install.
b) yes, though again I don't know grub2 so can't advise. AIUI you can use the mkconfig tool with a high-level input file, or you can just write the conf file yourself, which some people prefer. |

legacy grub sounds like what you want and does create /boot/grub and fills it with grub files. further action is required to setup the mbr. manual edit of grub.conf is required
installs files in /lib64 or /lib32 and makes and fills /boot/grub when grub2-install /dev/sd<whatever> runs; which command also sets up the mbr. grub.cfg is produced from grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg _________________ Defund the FCC. |
