Is it possible to emerge cmake without X11? Seems like it tries to pull in the full X11 stack. BTW this is on the Raspberry Pi.

Without the qt4 and qt5 USE flags set, it shouldn't. Try that.

I have the following USE flags:

Code:
gentoo-pi ~ # grep USE /etc/portage/make.conf
# These are the USE flags that were used in addition to what is provided by the
USE="bindist -X -xvfb -cups -gtk -qt -qt4 -qt5 -truetype -tiff -jpeg"

But it still appears to pull inn the the xorg stuff:

Code:
gentoo-pi ~ #  emerge -pv cmake

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to
prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also
possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are
impossible to satisfy simultaneously.  If such a conflict exists in
the dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can
not be installed simultaneously.

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man
page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.

The following USE changes are necessary to proceed:
(see "package.use" in the portage(5) man page for more details)
# required by dev-util/cmake-2.8.12.2-r1[test]
# required by cmake (argument)
=x11-base/xorg-server-1.15.0 xvfb

!!! The ebuild selected to satisfy ">=x11-libs/libdrm-2.4.49[video_cards_freedreno?,video_cards_nouveau?,video_cards_vmware?,abi_x86_32(-)?,abi_x86_64(-)?,abi_x86_x32(-)?, abi_mips_n32(-)?,abi_mips_n64(-)?,abi_mips_o32(-)?,abi_ppc_32(-)?,abi_ppc_64(-)?,abi_s390_32(-)?,abi_s390_64(-)?]" has unmet requirements.
- x11-libs/libdrm-2.4.52::gentoo USE="-libkms -static-libs" VIDEO_CARDS="exynos omap -freedreno -intel -nouveau -radeon -vmware"

The following REQUIRED_USE flag constraints are unsatisfied:
    video_cards_exynos? ( libkms )

(dependency required by "media-libs/mesa-10.0.4" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "x11-base/xorg-server-1.15.0[-minimal]" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "x11-drivers/xf86-video-omap-0.4.2" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "x11-base/xorg-drivers-1.15[video_cards_omap]" [ebuild])

As the message from Portage tells you, this is because you have USE=test or FEATURES=test. Unset those. If you still need help, please post the output of emerge --info dev-util/cmake.

Thank you. I have no "test" in my USE as shown above. But FEATURES is new to me. I haven't set it in my make.conf and other /etc files:

Code:
gentoo-pi ~ # find /etc  -type f -print0 |xargs -0 grep FEATURES
gentoo-pi ~ #

But it appears to be set by something else. But what would that be?

However, setting it in the calling environment does not seem to work (will only work if "test" is in the middle somewhere of the FEATURES list):

Code:
FEATURES=$(emerge --info dev-util/cmake | grep ^FEATURES | sed 's/ test / /') emerge  -vp dev-util/cmake
