Where are the gnome-3.14 ebuilds ?
Even alpha versions would do but all googleing failed, what did I miss? Is somebody working on it somewhere?
( I prefer not to fiddle with jhbuild... )

Given how many commits gtk+-3.14 branch got since 3.14.0 release, I'd patiently wait till things settle down - some of those look a bit nasty.

If you look at the bug tracker, you can see that there is several people working on this. Your more than welcome to resolve all the bugs in the code that's preventing it from being added to the main tree; otherwise sit back and wait patiently. The gnome herd is working on it as fast as they can; and they are not going to push something into the tree that doesn't work and properly tested. Now, if you happen to have a magical wand that fixes all the bugs, feel free to wave it and resolve all the issues (I have a couple other packages that could use the wand too). You are welcome to use the overlay and help find all the bugs, but it may or may not work.

Exactly. Even the tools in app-portage, written by Gentoo developers, are in testing (-9999) for a month before a version bump.

If you need software a day or two after it's released, set up an Arch Linux chroot.

have you done anything special in order to get wayland running ?
i only get a black screen when selecting wayland in gdm and have no clue where this dumps its logs.

TIA !

Yes i did some tweeks, normal ebuilds will not help.
* i installed libinput (see guthub ulda)
* then install wayland-9999 and weston-9999
* clutter and gtk+ have to be compiled with libinput and evdev support (this ebuild is not online yet)
After this selecting gnome on wayland works for me.

do you mean that both evdev and libinput have to be selectable in both ebuilds ?
also, i found several cogl ebuilds that enable with an USE the kms_egl_platform backend, is that needed too ?

cheers !

It would be great if you would compile a wiki guide on how to get wayland running! There's even a requested article on it on the official wiki: http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Gentoo_Wiki:Requested_Articles#Software

If you get the ball rolling with the steps that you performed, I promise you that other people will pitch in, clean up, and help maintain it.
