Hi there,
I just fresh installed my system but can't boot it. I have followed the handbook instructions for GPT Grub2 settings but can't see the Grub menu. Instead, I got just a blinking cursor. Well, my mother board is an Intel DX58SO and its BIOS isn't quite old. It has and an option under "Boot" to enable UEFI. However, enable it didn't solve the problem. My partition table is as follows:
Code: | Number Start End Size File system Name Flags
1 1049kB 3146kB 2097kB grub bios_grub
2 3146kB 137MB 134MB ext2 boot
3 137MB 674MB 537MB linux-swap(v1) swap
4 674MB 106GB 105GB ext4 rootfs
5 106GB 2000GB 1895GB ext4 homefs |
and grub2-install worked with no error and grub.cfg goes bellow:
Code: | #
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE
#
# It is automatically generated by grub2-mkconfig using templates
# from /etc/grub.d and settings from /etc/default/grub

When you are booting with UEFI, can you verify with a live cd (booted in UEFI mode) that grub2 is available for booting?
(with efibootmgr)
I found this thread (the first post) useful to get the UEFI/GPT/GRUB2 combination running:

Hi Markus09,
Thanks for your replay. I had have followed this quick guide, but couldn't be able to make things work. So I decided to give up. However, such link can be useful for somebody else.
Best. |
