I have mplayer successfully playing to the framebuffer using the sdl driver. The sdl driver is compiled with the fbcon use flag for framebuffer support. However, when playing video, the keyboard does not work properly. The key mapping is garbled and the num lock / caps lock / scroll lock buttons and LEDs don't work properly. I believe sdl tries to abstract the input layer so mplayer will get its input via sdl. I don't see any pertinent use flags on the sdl package and googling is only returning programming guides. Help will be greatly appreciated.

Wow, old thread. I *just* ran into this issue tonight .. did you ever find a fix for it?

No. I ended up using a minimal X install and running mplayer in that.

Blech. Exactly what I was trying to avoid. Thanks, though. :)
