I get very choppy SD video (HD seems fine) using any version higher than 2.99.911-r1 of the xf86-video-intel driver (on a Core i7 4770K). Anyone else seeing this?

Regards,

/Fredrik

well usually you need gpu + kernel +xorg-stuff at a similar recent version.

so just update everything and try again or file a bug to those intel gpu devs.

I am quite dissapointed why the graphic capabilities of intel. they should not claim it as video card at all, it barely can do anything here.

there are also intel-gpu-tools to analyse the situation.

I have

[ebuild R ~] x11-base/xorg-server-1.16.1:0/1.16.1
[ebuild R ~] x11-base/xorg-drivers-1.16
[ebuild R ~] x11-libs/libva-intel-driver-1.3.2

installed and I'm currently running:

Linux ludde 3.15.8-gentoo #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Aug 3 15:58:50 CEST 2014 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

Downgrading from any of:

2.99.916
2.99.914
2.99.912-r1
2.99.912

to

2.99.911-r1

solves the problem. I will see what I can do with the intel-gpu-tools, thanks!

I tested intel_gpu_top using xf86-video-intel-2.99.911-r1 (and got the output shown below) before the machine frooze and I had to do a hard reset.
