Hello gentoo users. I installed alsa as specified on the wiki, both alsa and alsa-utils. When I open alsamixer in the terminal I get "This sound device does not have any controls." All I can think is that I have the wrong audio settings in the kernel but other than that I'm extremely lost on how to proceed. Any suggestions?
Here's my lspci | grep -i audio:
Code: | Audio device: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Definition Audio (rev 06)
Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation GF106 High Definition Audio Controller (rev a1) |

You might want to configure asound.conf or .asoundrc per http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/ALSA. There are many examples that you could use. My guess is that it's using the wrong audio device by default.
should show your default sound device. What output do you get from this? |
