[SOLVED] Setting up wireless during install

I'm trying to go through the gentoo installation instructions, but am stuck at network configuration.

To avoid difficulties with WPA, I've switched the wifi to an open network. After configuring, ping 8.8.8.8 just reports Network is unreachable.

I have a wlp7s0 interface in if/iwconfig which I assume to be my wireless card. I've set the ESSID etc. with net-setup, but iwconfig doesn't display anything about signal (as shown in the handbook example), and lists Tx_Power as 0 dBm. I can't find anything more in the documentation as to what is wrong and how to set it up.

Does anybody know how I might get wireless working, so I can complete the install?


EDIT: Just retried the installation, it works now. Seemingly by magic...
