|
|
i have a strange behavior with the rm command when trying to delete thumbnails of tumbler in xfce with this command as root:
Code: | rm /home/someuser/.thumbnails/normal/* |
but i get this message:
Code: | rm: cannot remove ‘/home/someuser/.thumbnails/normal/*’: No such file or directory |
as someuser i could delete the files successfully. further i noticed that when i am in /home/someuser/.thumbnails/normal/ and issue the same command as root i successfully delete the files. i tried it again outside the directory and it worked also. _________________

It depends on how the permissions are set and they are likely messed up. Can you post the output of Code: | ls -l /home/someuser/.thumbnails/normal | or have you deleted everything all already?

Yes it does. The permissions on a few folders have gotten messed up (by means as yet undetermined) but you didn't know it. Next time you see the misbehaviour, look at the permissions.
