Hello
I would be glad if someone can help me out with something i couldn't find an answer for it.

Gentoo handbook says that it may be better to set noauto option for /boot partition, while editing fstab, for security reasons.
But how the system would be booted if this partition is not auto-booted ?

Thank you

Welcome to Gentoo!

The /boot partition is not mounted during boot up. This may sound odd, but I'll try and explain. Your boot loader is stored in the MBR for older computers or in the EFI BIOS ROM for new EFI computers. When you press the power button these areas are loaded into memory and do not reside on any partition. They will then read (but not write) the kernel from a specified partition and hand the computer over to it.

The fstab entries are not even read until after the root file system is mounted which is a while after this and has no effect on the boot loader. What the noauto does is it tells the Linux system that is booted with the appropriate root not to automatically mount /boot. These entries have no effect for other systems including other Linux systems with different root partitions but sharing any other ones.

Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box.
