I've spent the past 3 weeks getting Gentoo installed on a laptop I wanted to use just for Linux. If it weren't for past posts here, regarding the issues I had, I would have given up on Gentoo again.
So, how does one do this?

We all pretty much just volunteer here with answers whenever we know them. I lurked around for a about a year or so before getting a username and then began posting. If you want to throw money at the problem, I think the Gentoo foundation has their IRS charitable organization registration in good shape at the moment. |

Heck, even asking questions is a good thing in my opinion because it helps everyone and stimulates and grows the knowledge base. |

john ...
the community built up around any distribution is its most valuable asset. As others have pointed out you become part of that community when posing, or answering, questions (and, no, you don't need to be a guru in order to do this, if you've had a problem resolved and its posed again, you can point the poster to the thread in which it was answered ... no contribution is too small).
Also, keep this fact in mind when you hear arguments like "show us the code!", such arguments tend to overlook all the work done in supporting that "code", and more importantly supporting the users of that code.
best ... khay |

john_deaux,
There are two organisations that will take your money, if thats what you mean. gentoo E.v. in Germany, or the Gentoo Foundation in the USA.
Otherwise we are all in the Gentoo community, help here, on IRC the Wiki ...
Fix bugs, contribute to the Sunrise overlay, run your own public overlay or some combination of the above.
Just for the record, the Gentoo Foundation has not yet achieved its status as an IRS tax exempt organisation.
The IRS are giving all FOSS orgs a very hard time and most, if not all, applications are being rejected. _________________ Regards,

Probably some kind of targeting going on, driven by ideology and corporate greed or something. |

Use what you have learn to help other users, nothing cheaper than that (and i think, it's appreciate). |
