a) It is generally a bad move to install any software manually. You should let portage do it. 30.0 is currently in the unstable branch, so adding www-client/firefox to your /etc/portage/package.accept_keywords file will allow portage to install it. You may need to keyword a few more packages.
b) Again, manually installing flash is unnecessary and potentially leads to breakages and maintenance headaches. Simply emerge adobe-flash. _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
