I tried connecting to two remote servers and even tested one on localhost; I can see it sending and receiving network traffic in wireshark, but nothing happens on screen, it just stays on the menu/console I tried to connect from. No console output or any diagnostics on the client side. The server sees the connection then prints a timeout message later.
I've tried `rm -rf ~/.xonotic`, but that doesn't help either. I'm completely stumped here. |

Sorry to bump this, but it's still broken in 0.8.
I *can* connect to a localhost server this time (by copying the config from the remote one and running it under a different -sessionid).
Still unable to figure out why it's not working over the internet. It looks like all the net traffic goes through fine, but after doing the initial handshake, responding to the challenge packet, the client just gets stuck in a loop with what looks like querying data files. It gets the reply for those (and the hex dumps on stdout look reasonable) but never connects. Other people can connect to the server just fine.
That seems to be all the info I can get out of it using developer cvars. I can't make sense of the netcode itself.
It's also broken if I use the precompiled client binary in xonotic-0.8.0.zip... |

Yes, I know how to use the search function on their site. Please keep irrelevant spam "help" out of my topics, thank you. |

Quote: | Set the language to english
OR open the console and type:
Code:
notification_errors_are_fatal 0
This might make the notification look strange due to an extra linebreak being present, but it shouldn't be too bad I think? If you try that, let me know.
OR get an italian translation file from our git servers. I'll make you a pk3 file for this in the next post because it involves overriding existing files due to name changes.
EDIT: Nevermind, this last solution won't work, because 0.7.0 servers will then crash on you because your translation is *missing* the newlines. Pick one of the two solutions above. |
