I tried to install net-libs/webkit-gtk-2.2.6 and I get errors.
It looks like ruby . But I'm not sure.

I saw another tread but I wanted to throw this out again.
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-983928-start-0.html

I'll try:
emerge -uavDN ruby
emerge -uavDN webkit-gtk

Any ideas.

The other thread suggests that changing to another Ruby version (eg. 1.9) resolves this; [...]

for 1.8 support you can file a bug or wait for 1.8 support to drop from the Portage tree, bugs can be filed at Gentoo Bugzilla.

The eselect output however seems to suggest that Ruby 1.8 has no Rubygems; so, I don't know for sure but it might be the case that this isn't resolvable for 1.8...

(Read here how to write a bug report, for more in-depth details and troubleshooting steps you can read our Bugzilla HOWTO)

Edit: Split off the old part that is no longer applicable into a quote.

Please recall the part where ruby 1.8 got dropped from the tree due to upstream declaring it EOL quite awhile ago.

@VoidMage: Thanks! Ah, I don't follow Ruby closely; I see, perhaps he still has it from an overlay or is yet to migrate to Ruby 1.9?

@cwc: It appears that you should switch to Ruby 1.9 or newer; if you still have Ruby 1.8 it might be local, from an overlay or you might have newer versions masked.
