I'm trying to use the steam-overlay found here https://github.com/anyc/steam-overlay I have a 64bit system. Steam will launch but throws the message that OpenGL GLX context is not using direct rendering. Using steam works fine but when I launch any games they either crash or give me a message saying "Could not find required OpenGL entry point 'glColorMaskIndexedEXT'! Either your video card is unsupported, or your OpenGL driver needs to be updated. Maybe I'm just doing something stupid I don't know but if I could get any help on this it would be greatly appreciated ;3

Well, why don't you trust it?
you can check your glx render yourself with
Code:
glxinfo | grep render

Or see your glx implementation with
Code:
eselect opengl list

If you need more help, you will need to provide more infos : what card are you using, what drivers...

matabertus, I'd be happy to try to help you as well, but we're going to need a bit more information from you.

You can start by posting your lspci and uname -a commands. That might give us a starting point to better assist you.

glxinfo | grep -i "opengl\|direct\|server\|client" && lspci | grep -i vga && uname -a

Hi. I have the same problem. I used steam and gentoo without problems since past year, but yesterday when I updated the system I got the same error. I use Gentoo ~amd64 and the latest nvidia drivers and my card is an nvidia geforce gtx 650. The drivers are compiled with the USE multilib.

Code:
eselect opengl list
Available OpenGL implementations:
  [1]   nvidia *
  [2]   xorg-x11

Code:
glxinfo | grep render
