Yep, download the file from here: http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/repo/pkgs/microcode_ctl/amd-ucode-2012-09-10.tar/559bc355d3799538584add80df2996f0/amd-ucode-2012-09-10.tar

Because they fired the entire Dresden, Germany based Operating System Research Center team which ran the site:

In December 2012 they said they were working on getting the site back up and running:

Quote:
Kernel
You need to activate the following kernel options:

Code:
# Processor type and features
   <*> /dev/cpu/microcode - microcode support
      [ ]   Intel microcode patch loading support
      [*]   AMD microcode patch loading support

# Device Drivers
          # Generic Driver Options
               CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE="amd-ucode/microcode_amd.bin amd-ucode/microcode_amd_fam15h.bin"
               CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE_DIR="/lib/firmware"

Then
Code:
emerge amd-ucode

and reboot.

For more general infomation microcode patch for AMD? [SOLVED]

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "sys-firmware/amd-ucode".

So does this mean we have to download firmware from that Fedora link every time now?

It would be easier to install sys-firmware/linux-firmware, which contains a variety of useful firmware images.
