[for lack of a better idea of where to put boot issues]
A disk died so a non-critical volume could not be mounted at boot time. Thus, systemd complains and sends me into "Emergency Mode". Only it doesn't. Every 20 seconds or so, it displays "Welcome to Emergency Mode" but I never actually get a prompt. I can never type anything.
How do I get out of this? I probably have a boot CD around somewhere but I would rather not depend on that. |

You can boot from the install or sysadmin cd, mount the root partition and comment out the line in fstab, where the removed or bad disk was mounted. |
