|
|
I installed VMWare yesterday...in order to do so, I had to identify the directory containing the init scripts (rc0.d-rc6.d). Since Gentoo doesn't do it that way (thank goodness), I just made the directories and prayed it worked. Hallelujah, it did, but now there's two scripts--one in rc3.d and one in rc6.d--that are orphaned. Can anyone tell me what to do with them?
/etc/rc3.d/S90vmware
/etc/rc6.d/K08vmware

Why didn't you just emerge vmware-workstation? I did it this way and was never prompted for such silliness. |

The ebuild gets around this rather icky part of the VMware install process by making fake rc_.d directories in /etc/vmware/init.d, as well as a few other nifty things. That's why there's an ebuild for it. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |
