Hi,
I'm unable to redirect my local USB printer when connecting with xfreerdp.
According to CUPS, these are my printer details:
HP_LaserJet_Professional_P1606dn (Idle, Accepting Jobs, Not Shared, Server Default)
Description: HP LaserJet Professional P1606dn
Location:
Driver: HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn Foomatic/foo2zjs-z2 (recommended) (grayscale, 2-sided printing)
Connection: usb://HP/LaserJet%20Professional%20P1606dn?serial=000000000QA74ZP0PR1a
Defaults: job-sheets=none, none media=iso_a4_210x297mm sides=one-sided
I launched xfreerdp in different ways:
Code: |
xfreerdp /f /usb:id,dev:03f0:0a2a /v:RDPserver
xfreerdp /f /printer:HP_LaserJet_Professional_P1606dn /v:RDPserver
xfreerdp /f /printer:usb://HP/LaserJet%20Professional%20P1606dn?serial=000000000QA74ZP0PR1a /v:RDPserver
xfreerdp /f /printer:HP_LaserJet_Professional_P1606dn,HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn Foomatic/foo2zjs-z2 /v:RDPserver
xfreerdp /f /printer:HP_LaserJet_Professional_P1606dn,"HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn Foomatic/foo2zjs-z2" /v:RDPserver
|
Neither of these actually allowed my to see the printer from my Terminal Server.
I'm using 1.1.0_beta1_p20130710.
I also tried the latest remmina and tried to "attach local printers" but X crashed each time I tried that.
The only case where I can actually see my local printer in Terminal Server and print to it is when I run:
Code: | rdesktop -r printer:HP_LaserJet_Professional_P1606dn RDPserver |
The only glitch with rdesktop is that I get a thin black stripe at the end of each page printed from Terminal Server. I DO NOT get this artifact when printing locally with the same driver. I'm using version 1.8.1.
Since freerdp seems to be a more active project than rdesktop I was wondering if someone could tell me how to correctly redirect to local printer from the command line (with xfreerdp).
Thanks,
Vieri

Hi,
I'm making a Gentoo iso image to be loaded via PXE and I'd like it to be as light as possible. That's why I'd rather avoid installing samba.
I'm currently using cups + rdesktop with the following command:
rdesktop -r printer:HP_LaserJet_Professional_P1606dn="HP LaserJet Professional P1606dn" RDPserver
and it actually works after installing the Windows driver on the RDPserver host.
Printing is fine now.
Thanks,
Vieri |
