I'm having a problem where the latter two in the subject line don't see my phone (a Galaxy Nexus); everything works fine in libmtp, the /dev/ stuff is set up correctly by it and its command line tools can see the phone, so I know that part works.
gvfs shows absolutely no sign of even *having* mtp support after rebuilding it with USE=mtp. Doing `gvfs-ls -c mtp:` returns nothing and `gvfs-mount -li` just shows unrelated vanilla fstab lines. It doesn't seem to have even installed anything mtp-related in /usr/lib or /usr/libexec. Clementine uses gvfs so it inherits the same problem. |

Did you give libmtp-9999 a try? If you look around in the forum a bit, you'll find that the state of MTP in Linux actually IS a mess. Never really worked too well for me. _________________ "Coincidence is God's way of remaining anonymous."

I installed libmtp-9999 and the situation remained exactly the same.
Let me restate: gvfs is what's not working here. (which doesn't really surprise me, with it being of gnome origin...) |
