When trying to update the system, I get this (the last lines only):

Perhaps you're just not updating correctly ?
What's the dev-util/gdbus-codegen version compared to dev-libs/glib ? |

dev-util/gdbus-codegen-2.36.4-r1
dev-libs/glib-2.36.4-r1
I think there's nothing particular in what I do, a simple 'emerge --update --deep --with-bdeps=y world'. I also tried syncing portage tree priorly. This would be the second time I 'break' my gentoo installation without knowing the cause.. :| |

Well, first check the output of 'gdbus-codegen --help'.
If the option really isn't there, you'll need 3.38, where it definitely is present. |
