I am running gnome 3.10 with pulseaudio and alsa. I have disabled all other audio codecs in the kernel besides the required HDMI one. I have two AMD Radeon HD 7850's crossfired. I have a Dell ST2421L. Whenever I try selecting the HDMI audio option in the gnome control center, I get no sound.

Those who have been able to have sound through HDMI should help us here. I never been able to have it myself. I read that Linux do not support all audio devices through Hdmi. I read too that Linux kernel parameters

should be activated to have it. Even if Alsamixer and Pavucontrol show an Hdmi entry, I have no sound. I dont think you need to disable all Alsa support but Hdmi to have sound with it.

I double what hedmo said. You can try emerging pavucontrol first, and maybe it will show you that you already have the correct kernel drivers and the device is detected correctly. Then you should check if the correct profile is selected.
If there is no sound yet, you should check alsamixer. You probably have a muted digital output (SPDIF).
Don't forget to select the correct audio card on alsamixer. |
