|

Hi all,
I downloaded the live iso from:
http://ftp.ucsb.edu/pub/mirrors/linux/gentoo/releases/amd64/current-iso/install-amd64-minimal-20131226.iso
The problem is that it doesn't recognize my ethernet card Atheros AR8161.
In principle this is a problem only from kernels previous to 3.10, e.g.
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-931478-start-0.html
In the iso I downloaded there is kernel 3.10.17 and the module should be there.
If I try `modprobe alx` it says module not found.
I want to add that I have the same motherboard on another computer, and some months ago I used the solution by John R. Graham in the post mentioned above to have my computer running and then with the kernel 3.10.7 I compiled myself everything was fine.
So my question is: is the module alx not compiled in the install iso?
Thanks |

It works, thanks! Then I suppose that in the minimal gentoo install iso the module alx is not compiled (the kernel version is the same) |
