i did this in a VM sorry for my lack of posting verbatim logs.... this caused the failure.

ok ill emerge virtualbox-guest-additions since the VM doesnt have a browser either. logs will be up in a moment.

out of all of the ways to boot gentoo, i would much prefer this over the others. its graphical, its polished, the others are text only.
