I'm having a tough time with an intermittent xorg crash that references intel_drv.so. I don't have the entire message from Xorg.0.log but I will save it next time. I've tried xf86-video-intel-2.21.15, 2.99.905, and 9999 but they all crash eventually. What else should I try? It might not happen if I use uxa instead of sna but then videos tear. |

I think uxa does prevent the crash but then my screen tears when I'm watching a video. |

If you're not using kde or gnome3 you can try using compton
This will get rid of screen tearing on intel by using opengl compositing with vsync. Just emerge 0.1_beta1 and run this command:
Code: | compton --backend glx --paint-on-overlay --vsync opengl-swc |
If you are using gnome3 or kde try enabling vsync. |

I'm on xfce4 and compton sounds pretty slick. Does it hurt performance much? I'll give that a try if I can't get the segfault fixed soon. |
