|
|
I am seeing this odd dbus error. It prevents Evolution from starting and I am not sure if it is good enough just to log out to fix this error. This bug happens repeatedly now. It started after last update I did run with portage.
Code: | evolution
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/50-user.conf", line 14: reading configurations from ~/.fonts.conf is deprecated.
(evolution:1608): Unique-DBus-WARNING **: Error while sending message: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. |
Thanks for the help. |

Normally, this means the program sent a malformed d-bus request (for example, invalid UTF-8 in a string). Connections to the bus that violate the d-bus protocol are unceremoniously kicked off the bus withotu any kind of diagnotic message. So if is quest is send to name on the bus, but the receiver's reply is invalid, its kicked off the bus and the sender never get a reply, resulting in the message you see. For example, evolution might query some address book service for an entry, but if entry has an invalid UTF-8 name and the service doesn't validate it before sending it over d-bus, d-bis will kick the service off the bus and evolution will never get a reply.
You can try using dbus-monitor and ddbus-send to try to debug. |

jonfr.
Just a shot in the dark. Only if you have nvidia-drivers installed, please name the installed version. _________________ If you want to see a Distro done right, compile it yourself! |

jonfr,
sorry for delayed answering your post.
Although version 3.19.60 is marked as stable, it is far from that.
Give nvidia-drivers-325.15 a try or try a version <= 319.49 as it is described here: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487558
Or switch completely over to the in kernel nuveau support, as I did shortly.
Best, Andy. _________________ If you want to see a Distro done right, compile it yourself! |
