YATE sound devices

Hi!!!
i need to get a SIP capable softphone working, so i can finally work from home and save hours of comute

i have my vpn working, and i have tested several clients. all having some issue or another (mostly not working at all)

YATE is so far, the best option. it works, almost...

i can register with the SIP account, i can make a call, i can hear the other person just fine.

the thing is that when i talk, they cant hear me. and when they talk, they get everything echoed back.

best guess is that YATE is using the wrong sound device and taking what its output (the other persona talking) as input and sending that back.

but i cant find any configuration option for this ...

skype works fine (so i have a working pulseaudio, with a working headset and mic)
any ideas ?

im kinda desperate here, because if i cant get this to work, i wont be able to work from home, and im sure as hell not installing windows
