xfce4 user management?

to manage users arch suggests using app-admin/gnome-system-tools

this would be fine for me if it were not pulling in nautilus. i seek to change the avatar pin in lightdm / lightdm-gtk-greeter.... both latest available in portage. i think ill pull all 15 packages in and just purge nautilus when done this time. what should be done next time for user management? i think they made some references to some accounting package controling the lightdm user login avatar.

gnome-system-tools does nothing to the login avatar.
