why am i able to boot 3.8.10-gentoo livecd kernel but not able to boot from gentoo sources3.10.x kernels. Reason would be like my processor does not have cx8 or cmov, which these new kernels requires.

So how is it possible to even boot from livecd, with newer than 2.6.32, since that kernel its been required from cpu.

u follow. Is it the kernel issue or is it make.conf or boot option problem?

just want to install gentoo, but im unable to compile appropriate kernel to boot. ACtually tried a 2.6.31 kernel what says that cmov is required, install appropriate kernel.

what do i need to do now? what kernel is appropriate one for my motherboard or cpu actually.

Epia howtos are dead from the web, at least the kernel confs that i "found"

This is CHOST issue, you cannot use i686 tarball without cmov. You must use i486 tarball, you can switch over to i586 during install.

You cannot set CFLAGS to i586 if your CHOST is i486. If you do not know how to change CHOST just stay i486.
