Hi, everyone! I encountered some strange problems. I did a fresh install(Funtoo actually), and when I tried to configure my new kernel after I used the genkernel one, these menus cannot be opened to configure when I do "make menuconfig":

Processor type and features --->
Processor Family
Preemption Model
Timer frequency

I tried with xconfig and gconfig too, but they don't work too. The only way I did this is manually edited .config and then did "make oldconfig". Anyone knows why this happeds? And what i should post for additional information? Thanks!

EDIT 2013-09-01:
This problem is produced by the terminal I use, yakuake, whose default height is 50% of the screen. Its height is too small for the listed menu to display(potential bug), when I increased it to 80%(just random number), it worked. Worked well in konsole and console.

Perhaps the Kconfig directives sources by the configuration programs is damaged. What package (and version) are the sources from?

I'd backup the .config you have so far and then remove the whole directory with the kernel sources and re-merge them, hopefully that should get you into a clean state. Also, when you re-merge them, run `make mrproper` to sanitize the sources (remember to backup .config first, mrproper deletes it.)

Another possibility is that you are using some strange architecture or the programs cannot detect your architecture/environment.

does not work even with a fresh vanilla kernel source. uname -r is 3.9.11-gentoo-r1

It seems that I cannot open ANY list-styled options. Strange. I don't know where goes wrong.

make xconfig works. But make menuconfig doesn't. Do I need any extra information to get help? I don't even know where to start.

Also works in Konsole. Ok, the problem is located on the drop-down terminal I use: Yakuake. The specific reason is still unknown, but that is the problem.

Problem SOLVED! when I increase the height of Yakuake to 80%, it worked! it seems that the size of terminal produces this problem. Might be a bug.
