Is there an updated wiki for steam?
I followed the gentoo wiki, which demonstrates two methods, with and without an overly.
http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Steam
Trying without, I am able to install all the dependencies, download and extract the deb file. However I cannot find the script file. Does it exist at another location that anyone knows about.
As for the steam overlay I installed it with layman, but from there I'm kinda stumped. I don't really understand overlays. It makes it sound like I should just be able to emerge steam-meta.
However, I can't. I actually found the steam-meta and downloaded it, but I'm not sure really how to integrate it in to portage.
I don't really know if there are advantages/disadvantages to overlays. but I will be happy with any solution that works.
Thanks, |

Teegrins, mreff555!
It does seem that the pastebin mentioned at the Wiki is unreachable for the time being. I do know I should have the script somewhere, but there is also this:
As for overlays, they can be quite handy indeed. Especially so if you're interested in software that is not, or will never be allowed to the Portage tree. Using overlays you can use Portage to properly handle the packages, as they were meant to be handled in Gentoo, and while I admit it was a bit place to wander at first to myself, it didn't take too long to figure them out.
I think the steps towards that are quite well documented.
I do hope this helps!
Happy gaming. \ö/ _________________ Kindest of regardses. |

Thanks, It did work.
Actually, after glancing at the script I realized 99% of that was just configuring for ubuntu. So I didn't even bother with the script. Works great.
Now I just gotta figure out bumblee (again), horrible refresh. Oh well. |

Yeah, I didn't remember it being essential, but also did not remember that fer sure.
The one that is/was behind the link that's, for the time being, at the wikki, might have been more 'refined'. However, it has been quite a while since I meddled around with them, and forgot way too much.
I've simply had Steam working as is pretty much after I first set it up.
Good luck with the bee; I have only read some bits about it here and there, and from that I seem to to remember that it can be rather needy...
Edit:
Reading below, I guess it wasn't that different after all. ^^; _________________ Kindest of regardses.
