none of which, as far as I am aware, is a crime.

he of course shouldn't be allowed to live in the UK permanently in the UK if his delay caused his family to be here.

Public hate speech is crime in most civilized countries.
The same way it is ok to shut down nazi clowns preaching their hate speech, so should be to shut down jihadis as well. Same thing really.

Do you think he'll give back the £500,000 it cost to keep him and his family here?

Three guesses - also, the family that he has here, wonder who's going to be covering the costs
of trips out to Jordan ?

then why hasn't he been charged?

I don't want this guy in my country either. However, I don't believe in arbitrary justice. The rule of law is more important to me than kicking this guy out.

as I have said before, I don't get welfare here. the terms of my visa explicitly state I can't collect welfare. perhaps he is a citizen?

He had asylum status. His family were brought over and then lived of benefits due to him being of asylum status.
This does expose two problems then

1) his family is still here and would be on benefits. Do we ship them back to Jordan as well? probably BUT then the Jordanian gov'n would have to support
2) If he is released he would want asylum due to an argument of persecution so ... EU. His family is still here so he would have to come into the UK... Any EU country could and should take him and his family could relocate, but every other country would point out his family are tied in hte UK so it would make sense for them to come here.

Simply put, what grounds does his family have for being here now?

Friends are here, integrated into the community (they'll mention that - bound to) - be
a fundamental breach of human rights to move them etc .. etc .. etc ..

If he's been sent back then It would be against some human rights legislation to keep them apart.

These pesky humans and their rights! In my day torture was seen as character-building.

Well, he might be. But honesty, f*** him. He advocates the murder of all non-muslims. While I know this is all "halal" within Islam (it is spelled out in the Qur'an), when you're on this side of the civilization warp, it is considered bad taste to spill the blood of innocents.

Like extraordinary rendition isn't alive and well, just secret again (foolish Bush and his transparency).

he family of deported radical cleric Abu Qatada have left the UK, the Home Office has said.

It said they had dropped an application for leave to remain in the country.

His wife and five children have left London and are expected to join Abu Qatada in Jordan, where he was sent after deportation from the UK in July.

Excellent news - just hoping that no deals were wrought behind the scenes to make this happen.
