Out of the Premier League's big 5: Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City and Tottenham, 3 (Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City) have new managers. Now although this is common with Chelsea (they go through one every 9 months) this is not so common with the others. Indeed this will be the first year since 1986 that Man Utd haven't started the season with Sir Alex at the helm.

Chelsea: It is a bit more special for Chelsea this year as well as the man that loves Chelsea and who Chelsea loves back is back! Yes, the "Special One" Jose Mourinho is back at Chelsea! The easiest situation out of the lot. Mourinho basically guarantees success.

Man City: Manuel "The Engineer" Pellegrini arrives at the sports club with the most money in the world ($150 billion dollars) hoping to turn a successful Premier league team into a successful Champions League team. Not so easy.

Man Utd: David Moyes. Probably the most difficult situation out of the lot. How do you follow the most successful football manager of all time? Best answer: have all the successful components of your predecessor. He's a tough Scot who doesn't take any shit, was hand picked by Ferguson and is great at squeezing the best out of his players but has no European knowledge.

So who do you think is going to have done the best by Christmas? Poor old David Moyes has the hardest start with Brian Laudrup's Swansea, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City in 4 of his first 5 games. Manuel Pellegrini has been buying but not so successfully Jesus Navas and Fernandinho are good but not exceptional. Isco would have been a lot better

Also, a little tip. Tottenham, if they can get a top class striker who will score 15 - 20 goals a season (not easy in the EPL) will be a force to be reckoned with. They don't need it because their midfield just screams goals (with Gareth Bale sticking them in the back of the net from wherever) but they needed a Higuain (who seems destined for Arsenal) character. They have also picked up Paulinho who I hear is a fantastic little Brazillian midfielder who is twice as good as Fernandinho but was half the price.

Anyway, thoughts?

I'm too worried about the Baggies to comment.

They've just signed a pensioner up. Oh dear. Anyways - JB sits back and lets thread continue.

At least you have Shane Long. Without him I think you'd be in the Championship

only five managers are from England.
But that is not a problem. There aren't hardly any english players anyway.

Btw, you forgot Tottenham. And Sunderland. And Everton. And Liverpool. And only one of them is meant as a joke.

I picked the 5 teams that have a chance and unusually there are 3 new managers, which was the whole point of the thread. Out of the teams you mentioned only Everton has a new manager. And yes, Liverpool are a complete joke :D
