I have created a ext4 filesystem for my root partition

When i try to boot Kernel Panic occurs
Quote:
Kernel panic - not syncing:VFS: Unable to mount root fs error 6
set "root="

Grub.conf
Quote:

title Gentoo Linux 3.8.13
root (hd0,4)
kernel /boot/kernel-genkernel-x86-3.8.13-gentoo root=/dev/sda4

title Gentoo Linux 3.8.13 (rescue)
root (hd0,4)
kernel /boot/kernel-genkernel-x86-3.8.13-gentoo root=/dev/sda4 init=/bin/bb

Partition Table:
Quote:

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System

/dev/sda1 2048 1259519 628736 5 Extended

/dev/sda2 41945088 73402367 15728640 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT

/dev/sda3 73402368 234436607 80517120 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT

/dev/sda4 1259520 41945087 20342784 83 Linux //Root Partition

/dev/sda5 * 4096 208895 102400 83 Linux //Boot Partition

/dev/sda6 210944 1259519 524288 82 Linux swap / Solaris

PS: I have used "genkernel all" for compiling that is the alternate method

is the ext4 driver built into the kernel you are booting or as a module?
also shouldn't there be a initramfs entry for grub as well since genkernel makes an initramfs
also in using an initramfs shouldn't there be a real_root option?
