every time I do the emerge-webrsync I get the following problems, It does not not matter the date on the system because it keeps trying to download the the same date on system if i do the --revert the previous date it will sync the portage but do it agian and it trys to download the current date with no luck.
This is an install from the 2008.beta1 cd.
Any ideas ?

I think some your local portage files is newer than in archive. Try to use emerge-delta-webrsync if you can't use --rsync. _________________ BSDHome |

okay another update.. I am also getting the errors on my other box that was installed with the 2007 cd. this appears to be a problem with the emerge-webrsync. Can someone look into this.. |

well that worked but still it is kinda strange how one old system that has had no problems what so ever with the emerge-webrsync is giving the errors. I guess i will file a bug report on it. I thought it was something to do with the beta cd but I was wrong it is on the old cd and the new one so it is an issue with the webrsync |

This was resolved with portage-2.1.5_rc7 |

I had the same symptoms due to another issue. But because I ended here in search for the solution, i guess it's a good enough place to place my hint:
I had messed up my resolv.conf and had no name-resolution. emerge-webrsync will NOT tell you so, but instead will go backwards in history to find an other snapshot... _________________ while (!asleep) sheep++; |

If you test in http://distfiles.gentoo.org/snapshots/ the date included in portage-[date I am referencing].tar...
for example: emerge-webrsync --revert=20130510, all will be fine and installed
