Sounds like D.C. has an unconstitutional ordinance.

Ah, I should've guessed. I'd agree with Darth, and this seems exactly like not going to the back of the bus. I can't imagine they allow concealed carry, so if you aren't allowed to open or concealed carry, that seems like a violation of the constitution. And IIRC, you can't challenge a law until you've been directly affected by the law. If I have that correct, he is in a sense forced to break the law.

And? This is potentially unconstitutional.

They could all be applying for permits, in which case the march would be perfectly legal. They might not state they have complied with local law to try to trump up support for their "show of arms" when in fact all they would be doing is adhering to laws they don't agree with

do you really think the two situations are analogous? In one, a certain group was treated as 10th class citizens. The laws on guns are applied indiscriminately.

I was debating posting this here if it hadn't been.

Some thought provoking stuff here, if there's ever a place to have a 2nd amendment right protest, it's DC.

I'm with BK on this one, police should agree not to escalate, and leave them alone, if they try to push authority, this may snap.

I've had some experience with Facebook events and invites, and I've create a very simple equation that usually creates a realistic number of people who will attend.

Take the number that accepted the invite (in this case ~2,700), and multiply it by three.

I've been off by one or two attendees either way, but very close. Considering the nature of the event, it might be a different outcome, but if ~8,000 armed civilians take march on DC, they will need armed forces to help.

eitherway this is beyond stupid (unless they plan to actually take the capital... which isn't there...)

Perfect time for Al qaeda (or other sympathizers) to just shoot a cop and well just read some history books to see what will happen.

Question in my brain is will this be localized to DC or spread?

The only shitbag are those involved in the arrest. A federal detention facility? Resisting arrest? Yeah, right. It's a shame what people will tolerate from lolgov.

1st Amendment trumps all.

All enemies, foreign and domestic.

Resocialization is a lot like being in North Korea.

Not really clear what he was arrested for, although the page suggests it was for posession of marijuana. Unless he was one of dozens arrested, this makes a beautiful example of the Obama Administration's "Selective Enforcement" of the law.

To suggest that one amendment in the Bill of Rights is any more important than the rest is to suggest that one can be done away with sooner than the rest. This is flawed thinking.

Besides that, your precious right to freedom of speech doesn't entitle you to disrespect the uniform.
