Hi,
I have recently built a new kernel for my new machine and on adding a sound card (no built in audio) I have run into some issues.
I have configured alsa drivers in my kernel and can see my card in alsa mixer. Audio works with know visible issues with mplayer, skype and audacity but doesn't work (no sound happens) for a number of applications such as firefox, spotify and all games.
I understand that much more information will be needed to debug this issue. If anyone knows a good place to start, i'll gladly get all the info needed.
Thanks in advance.

Are these programs that are having issues with sound, actually compiled to play sound?
(If they have an alsa tag, is it turned on?) _________________ Knute

If you want proof of that, take a look at windows sometime. |

hey, well after a few weeks of trying, some guys in #gentoo on freenode gave their time and we got it fixed. After removing oss support from my kernel (just in case) and deleting a custom asound.conf file I had. Sound works as it should
another win for gentoo support everywhere.
Thanks everyone
