|
|
I have just started using Gentoo in association with Open Box and wanted to take some pictures to show my friends. Does anyone have a preferred screen-shooter to use with Open Box?
Best,

I started (and have been) using xv about the time of their latest update, 1994, so that's my vote |

+1, scrot is nice
you can do things like "scrot -s" and it allows you to draw part of the screen using mouse to take shot from
or "scrot -d 60" to get 60 secs time to prepare the desktop, like opening some menu, to include it in the shot
so many ways to accomplish screenshots out there, but never found anything even close to scrot |

import
Comes with imagemagick, which quite likely already is installed. |

This is my Print Screen script that I use with Fvwm using import:
Code: | use strict;
use warnings;
use 5.010;
die "Usage: \n Print_Screen root|area|window|delay \n" unless
(scalar @ARGV == 1) and ($ARGV[0] =~ /root|area|window|delay/);
my $timestamp = `date +%Y_%m-%d_%H-%M`;
chomp $timestamp;
my $target = "/home/mimosinnet/Dades/Imatges/ScreenShots";
my (@args, $window);
given ( $ARGV[0] ) {
when( 'root' ) { @args = ("import", "-window", "root", "$target/$timestamp.png") }
when( 'area' ) { @args = ("import", "$target/$timestamp.png") }
when( 'window' ) {
$window = `xprop -root | grep "_NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW(WINDOW)"`;
($window) = $window =~ /(0.*$)/ ;
@args = ("import", "-window", $window, "$target/$timestamp.png")
}
when( 'delay' ) {
sleep 5;
$window = `xprop -root | grep "_NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW(WINDOW)"`;
($window) = $window =~ /(0.*$)/ ;
@args = ("import", "-window", $window, "$target/$timestamp.png")
}
};
system(@args) == 0 or die "unable to do the screenshot because of: $?";
@args = ("xmessage", "-nearmouse", "Captura de Pantalla Feta");
system(@args) == 0 or die "unable to show message because of: $?"; |
