|
|
Hi,
Up to recently I used a analog Headset for sound (movies, youtube etc) with a broken micro and a usb-headset for skype (I still used the half broken headset because of the better sound quality for movies and music)
Now the analog headset is completely broken and i need to use the usb-headset for everything.
Problem is I don't manage to tell that to kde.
Notice that in skype it works fine and upon login I hear that annoying welcome sound, too.
I put the corresponding device on top of the preference list in phonon, I click the "test" button, I hear the test sound.

Hi again,
I finally found something that I believe is not more than a workaround, but it seems to work.
I found it here http://forum.kde.nl/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=85091.
Basically I had to create a file ~/.asoundrc in my home directory with the content
Code: | pcm.!default front:Headset |
where Headset seems to refer to soundcard listed in /proc/asound/cards
Code: |
Balrog simon # cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [SB ]: HDA-Intel - HDA ATI SB
HDA ATI SB at 0xf9ff4000 irq 16
1 [NVidia ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia
HDA NVidia at 0xfbcfc000 irq 19
2 [Headset ]: USB-Audio - Logitech USB Headset
Logitech Logitech USB Headset at usb-0000:00:13.0-1, full speed

I dont really understand why it works or if this is a reasonable way to fix the problem, but maybe it helps someone with the same issues. |
