| These contract free plans always suck though. I'd love to be able to pay only for what I use but they always have fine print that kills a ton of your credits. The contract free version becomes so much more expensive. |

To which "credits" are you referring? If indeed they go that route for all plans, then I doubt it will have the negatives you anticipate.

To which "credits" are you referring? If indeed they go that route for all plans, then I doubt it will have the negatives you anticipate. |
you have to look at the contract. "no contract" is advertised when they really mean "no long term contract." there's still a contract. i think it was metroPCS that got sued for this a few years ago.
verizon uses a month-to-month system for smartphones. you pay a month fee for unlimited text and talk, and then they charge you extra for going over your bandwidth. with most of the others, they use a credit system, where you prepay for credits. then they charge you a dollar or more for each day that your phone makes or receives a call or text, and same with data transmission. then they charge you on top of that for the actual volume used. it gets really expensive really quickly. |

I'm looking for no early termination fees, no subsidies, no subsidy increased permanent monthly fee. Which sounds like what this article is describing. ~$25/mo to pay for your phone if you choose, but only on top of the standard monthly rates (not mentioned). TMo has previously offered reduced monthly fee plans for non-subsidized phones, so it seems plausible. As for bandwidth, I think Sprint is the only one with unlimited usage (on their network).
