one of my buddies was taking the firefighters exam in a major metro area and explained this sort of scenario a couple years back. most firehouses use a points system that factors in time. small guys MUST utilize acrobatics to win on time, because when there are other tests where their size is a huge disadvantage. for example, there's one that involves bashing through a solid door. he's going to get his ass beat on time there. bigger guys can chop through in a few swings of an axe, or kick the doorjam in, or even just drop a shoulder. the little guys get stomped on timing on the door test, so they need to make it up elsewhere.
then again, you have some departments where women are suing for discrimination because weaker/lighter people often fail the doorbash test outright. that's a fucking embarrassment. a burning building doesn't give a fuck what your gender is. |

Det cord would take too long. The fastest way would be to hit it with a grenade launcher from the back of the still-moving fire truck. I bet that's how Homeland Security does it. These guys need to get with the program and Be the Change.

Yeah, longer than an axe (because of having to place it). A block of C4, on the other hand, would only take long enough to run up to door, run a safe distance away, and then run back to the hole it made.
With the the grenade launcher, though, you just have to run up to the hole it made (and then check inside for survivors).

A small weak guy with an axe isn't getting through quickly. You're making it too complicated. And if you're going to go with grenade launchers, just get rid of the fire department and expand the ATF / Sheriff's dept.
