Hello!

I have noticed, that my system slows down significantly when i leave it on for 2 or 3 days. It gets to the point where opening a hard drive with dolphin browser takes about 20 seconds. Mind you, I'm taking about a PC with Core i7 4x4Ghz, 8GB RAM and SSD drive. When i check CPU usage it's only a few percent, and more than 6GB of RAM is free. Where can I look for the cause?

My netbook's performance degrades pretty horribly when it gets too hot, your temps ok?

Yup, CPU does not exceed 40-45 Celsius when idle, up to 80 while compiling.

Nevertheless, it may be that some component does (falsely) report some overheating.
I had a similar problem with my laptop, only that it slowed down already after a few minutes.
Finally, I solved the problem by setting CONFIG_ACPI_THERMAL=n (although it says that disabling this option may destroy my hardware, but I think my hardware just sent wrong data to this module).

Of course, the other thing you might consider is that some program (or the kernel) has a memory leak: Check the output of "free".

I am 99,999% sure my components are not overheating. Besides, Windows works just fine. I checked 'free', but didn't find anything useful there.

I used dolphin just as an example - whole system slows down. After I reboot it everything is just fine for 2-3 more days.
