Quote:
A Soviet soldier who went missing in Afghanistan nearly 33 years ago has been found living with Afghans in the western province of Herat.

The soldier is semi-nomadic, has the adopted Afghan name Sheikh Abdullah and practises herbal medicine, Russia's RIA news agency reports.

An ethnic Uzbek, he was found by ex-Soviet veterans of the war.

Seems like he took the saying too seriously, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

@ OP, not such a shock, really. An Uzbek joins the Afghans.

Quote:
An ethnic Uzbek,
There are 2.5 million ethnic Uzbeks living in Afghanistan. Uzbekistan and Afghanistan share a border. Culturally, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan aren't that different. They're all Muslims, for instance, and it's tribalism all the way down.

If the US invaded Canada, was defeated and then left, imagine how surprising it would be to find an ex-American soldier living in Canada. *shock*

Is that the reason there are so many Americans living in Canada?

He'd be found out immediately, the first time he pronounced the word "about" correctly, rather than saying "a-boot", or if he was from NYC, the first time he leaned out his car window at an intersection, flipped somebody off while shouting "Blow it out cha ass, motha fucka!"

Even if he managed to avoid all that, he'd be found out when pond hockey time comes and they find out he can't skate.

It'll probably happen sooner. If his head doesn't split in half when he talks he'll be found immediately.

He'll try to fit in by saying 'aye' and 'aboot' but he'll go the way of the seal since Canadians actually say 'eh' and 'a-boat'

Actually, they say abo-oot (individually pronouncing the o and u sound), and if you get near Quebec, it's not "eh", but "eh dare" (all sentences much have both "eh" and "dare" (there), and every other time you say "dare" it should be supplement with "you" (e.g., "eh dere you and delivered as a question). For example, "That's a nice briefcase, eh dere you?"

And, all Americans talk like there from Alabammy.
