Taco Bell is just the latest company in Europe that's been found inadvertently serving horse meat, but as the controversy spreads overseas, the United States may be preparing to bring horse slaughter back to this side of the Atlantic. |
| Quote: | | Horse slaughter was effectively banned in the U.S. in 2007, but unfortunately, that didn't save the horses themselves from being turned into meat. They were simply shipped to other nations, where poor standards and the stress of extra travel only prolonged a painful end to their lives. (Even PETA agrees that if they're going to be killed, it's better to do it here.) |
Those other nations would process the meat of US horses and serve it to the brits that can't stand the taste _________________ Truck!!

EU certified and traceable horse meat costs 15-16 €/kg, the UKian of Findus certainly did not put legal EU horse meat in their lasagna, if I am not wrong it was meat of US horse imported through Romania, since they prefer to go through the EU certification process and sell the horse meat produced there for 15€/kg rather than for 5-8€/kg as ground beef meat. _________________ Truck!!

Or require that meat included in complex processed food like lasagne or tortellini undergo the same certification process as meat sold as such. That is the loophole they use.
BTW italians know since the ice age that ready made lasagna and tortellini from the supermarket are made with the worst shit available, we just did not know it is actually legal _________________ Truck!!

Ask the french, they are the biggest importer of horse meat in the EU, we only import a little
I was wondering why the French were importing all that horse meat, now that all this smear campaign for the horse meat in UK lasagna produced in France has started I understand...
The first accused were the Irish, than the French that blamed immediately the Romanian, after all considering that there aren't all those horse there in Romania and no proof of the scam could be found it is more than possible that it was the French that added horse meat to what they were importing from Romania, I don't think they sell imported horse meat in french shops _________________ Truck!!
