This actually isn't a question this is more of a comment.
I have a media center hooked to a TV running windows with both Plex Media server and Plex Media center. I made this switch from boxee reluctantly when they stopped updating and supporting their software.
I wanted to try all the software avialable before deciding on one, and I honestly didn't find one I didn't like. MythTv and XBMC are nice too, but I prefered plex. The downside was that all the other machines in my home are on some flavor of linux and Plex only wrote the server for linux not the client.
I finally tried the client with wine and I have never had an easier wine install. Works perfectly. Just thought I would put it out there in case anyone was thinking about trying it. |

Did you get the Plex server to run on Gentoo?
I'm currently running Mediatomb on the server and XBMC clients. But I'm experiencing XBMC being too unstable. I would prefer a server which did the capture, transcoding, render layouts and icons etc. and simply stream the video/audio to a fairly thin client. Is this possible with Plex? I would probably run Android on the client in that case. |

I actually didn't try the server because Gentoo is run on my laptop. I figured there was no point in running a server on it. I was streaming from my server in another room running windows.
Is that something people have had trouble in the past? |

At the plex site you can only download plex for Ubuntu Fedora and CentOS. I was wondering if there is an ebuild somewhere? |
