I merged KDE 4.10.0 today. I can't speak for KMail, as I use Thunderbird, but everything else, including Desktop Search, seems to be working fine so far. I'm glad I held off upgrading to 4.10.0 until a solution to the qt-core bug was found. _________________ Fitzcarraldo's blog |

about "attach as tab ..."
If I switch to the (godawful) oxygen window decoration then
I see the "attach" option ... doesn't seem to exist in decorations
that are acceptably attractive _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth

Yeah, I use Oxygen theme, along with oxygen for firefox, which actually makes firefox work better to my uninitiated eyes eg: it gives me a cross to clear the browser url and an icon to bookmark: I realise there is CTRL-D for the latter, but an icon next to the url works well visually. A few bits like that, things I don't want have to dig around in settings and about pages to figure out, but which do make a difference to the utility of the browser, as well as looking a lot cleaner.
AFAIK, "Attach as Tab to.." is a standard part of KWin/kde-libs: it doesn't take any special clicking here, just a left click on the top left window corner, where there is an icon, below the long-standing option to "Move to Desktop" and "Minimise" or "Maximise" for the current window. It's very simple and very flexible, since it uses standard process and WM integration (all it really does is tell the WM the apps are a group, and thus to overlay their top control bar, as well as allow options to ungroup, or things like close the entire group.)
IMO it's what Activities should have been implemented on top of: it's such a simple idea, and totally user-driven during the course of normal work. And of course, it stops the crazy "move apps in the taskbar because er I feel like it" behaviour being a problem, since it's now much easier to click back on another app you were working with. The lack of attention paid to an issue like spatial memory in a desktop is such a basic screw-up in thinking, and meantime years have been spent on inturgration that an end-user is frankly better off without. |

And it probably won't ever again. That's why you should migrate to mysql. _________________ backend.cpp:92:2: warning: #warning TODO - this error message is about as useful as a cooling unit in the arctic |

But it would have been nice to get a note that sqlite support was dropped /grumbleoff _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth

Well, it is listed as 'working with limitations' here: http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/PIM/Akonadi/Database#Sqlite
I don't know to what extent the limitations are a showstopper, if those are related to your problems. _________________ backend.cpp:92:2: warning: #warning TODO - this error message is about as useful as a cooling unit in the arctic |
