|
|
Hi,
After Todays update USE ffmpeg flag was removed from my media-sound/audacity-2.0.3.
Now (I use Audacity to improve audio in my video files), I can't load any .mp4 or .MOV files which is a huge step backward for me. When I am trying to load movie file by Import Raw (suggest by Audacity) - I have white noise instead of sound. Is there any solution to solve this?
OR
how to tell portage (during emerge --sync) to use snapshot from 12 February 2013 (instead of newest one)
http://mirror.mcs.anl.gov/pub/gentoo/snapshots/
so I will have working Audacity for my projects

mask media-sound/audacity-2.0.3 or unmask the ffmpeg use flag for audacity. Best check why they chose to mask it first. _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box. |

I did mask 2.0.3 -> up to version 2.0.0 - did not help. It is impossible to unmask ffmpeg as it not exist now to any of version (even the oldest one).
Code: | # emerge -pv audacity
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

2.0.2 version will work with ffmpeg and avi import, it says ffmpeg-compatible files. |

Well, then you will have to unmask the flag.
add media-sound/audacity -ffmpeg (no typo) to /etc/portage/profile/package.use.mask
As I pointed out before, you probably want to find out why its masked now. _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.

I know there is no longer support for ffmpeg in Audacity 2.0.3, but 2.0.2 was working for me fine day ago...
Did not help either.

media-sound/audacity -ffmpeg

maybe -ffmpeg in /etc/portage/make.profile/use.mask?
That should have worked...
you can check man portage for files and descriptions. _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.

You might want to reconsider.

You can try removing the line from /usr/portage/profiles/base/package.use.mask and that should work until you sync, but it probably will not build. bug 417869 _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.

Many thanks for your time doc!
So decided to manage in different way and I am extracting audio in kdenlive now, and the audio into Audacity. |

well this blows. How else can I extract foreign audio from avi's (for listening and learning on the ipod). I either need audacity to work with ffmpeg or another program. I don't use any KDE apps though, so those are not an option for me. _________________ Thank you,

So just use ffmpeg directly. It's not rocket science. |

Well, I don't work for NASA, so it shouldn't be a problem. So please tell me how to use ffmpeg to cut, crop, trim, compress, and slow down the rate of the audio. _________________ Thank you,

Code: | ffmpeg -i file.mp4 -vn -acodec copy out.aac |
And then you edit the audio in the audio editor. One program for one function each, the Unix way. |
