|
|
Hi - as in subject after emerging libreoffice-4.0.0.1 on my
x86 notebook, all office apps (lowriter, localc, etc)
fail with this sort of error when I try to start them:
Code: | soffice.bin[1459]: segfault at 2865f0fc ip b0fe04c2 sp bfd7c054 error 4 in libgcc3_uno.so[b0fde000+c000] |
works fine on my x86_64 box;
before digging deeper, I wonder if anyone else has run into this _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth

OK, so no one else runs into this problem
I built libreoffice with +debug and ran it in gdb, to get
this not very helpful output:
Code: | /usr/lib/libreoffice/program $ gdb ./soffice.bin

I continue my lonely quest
So I banged in the rpms of libreoffice-4.0.0.1 (--nodeps needed
but the deps are actually in place)
Guess what: libreoffice starts, and runs, perfectly
so this is some gentoo problem - something, I guess, about my setup
... but what could it be ? _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth

thanks for the link to the bug;
I tried both icu-49.1.2 (which was installed when the problem arose) and
icu-50.1-r2 (which I thought I'd try in desperation)
Problem remains exactly the same either way. Whic is strange since my
problem surely *is* the same bug _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth

Hi - I was mistaken. There are two bugs; one related to icu and
one that seems to be a complete mystery at the moment.
Unfortunately for me, I suffer from the mystery bug.
(But I did go through changing icu and it made no difference) _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth

Well, I've run into the very same issue, and currently have no idea what the actual cause could be. As I actually need a working LOffice I'm just in the process of getting the latest 3.x version compiled ...
Interestingly, as you've noted already, it works on my x86_64 systems; I haven't tried to update my other x86 system, yet (maybe it works there, who knows).
Strange problem indeed |

glad we know what's wrong
strange to have in the recent past two compiler option
problems (-fomit-frame-pointer for libreoffice and
-Os vs. -02 for qt-core) in major packages _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth

Interestingly, again no problem here with gcc-4.7.2 and libreoffice-4.0.0.3. |
