So, regarding the changes announced lately, I stumbled across a problem
Code:
hikaru ~ #  emerge -uDN --with-bdeps=y @world

!!! Your current profile is deprecated and not supported anymore.
!!! Use eselect profile to update your profile.
!!! Please upgrade to the following profile if possible:
        default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop

Calculating dependencies |... done!

Exiting on signal 2
hikaru ~ # eselect profile list
Available profile symlink targets:
  [1]   default/linux/amd64/13.0
  [2]   default/linux/amd64/13.0/selinux
  [3]   default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop
  [4]   default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop/gnome
  [5]   default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop/kde
  [6]   default/linux/amd64/13.0/developer
  [7]   default/linux/amd64/13.0/no-multilib
  [8]   default/linux/amd64/13.0/x32
  [9]   hardened/linux/amd64
  [10]  hardened/linux/amd64/selinux
  [11]  hardened/linux/amd64/no-multilib
  [12]  hardened/linux/amd64/no-multilib/selinux
  [13]  hardened/linux/uclibc/amd64
hikaru ~ # eselect profile set 3
/usr/bin/realpath: ‘’: No such file or directory
hikaru ~ # which realpath
/usr/bin/realpath
hikaru ~ # eselect profile set 3
/usr/bin/realpath: ‘’: No such file or directory
hikaru ~ # eselect profile set default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop
/usr/bin/realpath: ‘’: No such file or directory
Mh, and now?

Just a guess, but I'd bet
Code:
env-update
source /etc/profile
would solve it. If that works, I'll tell you whi I think it did. ;) If not,
Code:
titan ~ # equery belongs /usr/bin/realpath
 * Searching for /usr/bin/realpath ...
sys-apps/coreutils-8.20 (/usr/bin/realpath)
I'd --oneshot emerge coreutils.

Thanks, done that, didn't help, though.
Code:
>>> Verifying ebuild manifests
>>> Emerging (1 of 1) sys-apps/coreutils-8.20-r2
>>> Jobs: 0 of 1 complete, 1 running                Load avg: 0.69, 2.04, 1.81 (null)*(null) ../../sandbox-2.6/libsandbox/libsandbox.c:check_syscall():879: failure (Permission denied):
 (null)*(null) ISE:
   abs_path: (null)
   res_path: (null)
>>> Installing (1 of 1) sys-apps/coreutils-8.20-r2
>>> Jobs: 1 of 1 complete                           Load avg: 1.85, 2.08, 1.83

 * Messages for package sys-apps/coreutils-8.20-r2:

 * Make sure you run 'hash -r' in your active shells.
 * You should also re-source your shell settings for LS_COLORS
 *   changes, such as: source /etc/profile
hikaru ~ # hash -r
hikaru ~ # env-update && source /etc/profile
>>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...
hikaru ~ # eselect profile set 3
/usr/bin/realpath: ‘’: No such file or directory
(dunno where the sandboxing error comes from, seen that on some packages lately)

avx,

Does it work if you use the good old fashioned way of setting the symlink by hand?
You will need to do
Code:
env-update
source /etc/profile
manually too.

I can symlink to make.profile and eselect profile lists it as activated, trying to change it via eselect again stil fails with above error, though.
